One Sheet Challenge 2025 Winners Announced

J Carey Design is proud to announce the winners of the 2025 One Sheet Challenge in partnership with Ilkley Grammar School.

Winner – Jackson Kelly with his “Growth” tree design
2nd Place – Dan Tomlin with a coffee / storage table concept
3rd Place – Jack Shuttleworth with a coffee table / vinyl storage unit

The judging panel praised Jackson’s originality, clear presentation, and attention to detail, which made his design stand out as a worthy winner.  Dan impressed with his passion for structure and refinement of his design after feedback, while Jack demonstrated maturity and adaptability by reworking his concept and delivering a clear, thoughtful presentation.

Following the announcement in July, both Jackson and Dan joined the J Carey Design workshop over the Summer to bring their ideas to life.

  • Dan successfully built his coffee table from start to finish, gaining valuable hands-on joinery experience.

  • Jackson worked alongside the design team to build and refine his tree design, which was then finished to production standard by our workshop.

Last week, the latest cohort of Ilkley Grammar School students visited the J Carey Design factory as part of their introduction to the challenge.  Jackson’s and Dan’s completed pieces were proudly on display, offering inspiration for the next generation of entrants.

“The feedback from the Product Design pupils was incredibly positive… the visit had really opened their eyes to manufacturing, design, and potential career opportunities. Well worth it, and they’ve already been thinking about possible One Sheet Challenge designs, I already have a feeling this cohort could produce some innovative ideas! Thank you, it’s been great to continue working with everyone at Careys and give pupils a true taste of a design and manufacturing business!”
